Welcome to Roots To Your Ancestors
Family History Research isn't something new, people have always wanted to know where they came from, who their ancestors were, what they did for a living. The popularity of this hobby has been stimulated by such programs as “Who Do You Think You Are?”.
Until the turn of this century researching your family history was a laborious and costly affair: visits to archives, libraries and the Public Record Office could involve long, expensive journeys, especially if your ancestors moved from place to place.
Now it is so much easier, a lot of the travelling can be avoided but it can still be expensive, buying subscriptions to family history websites (£100+ per year) and the cost of certificates: most people will have three certificates in their lives – Birth, Marriage and Death.

Family History isn't just about births, marriages and deaths: there is so much more we can find out. Where did they live, what was their occupation, what was life like in a particular place at that time. All this depends on how much detail you want, how much time and/or money you want to spend on it. Family history can be like a disease, once it gets hold of you there is no going back and there is no known cure! But it is very satisfying.

You may not find royalty or nobility in your family but I am sure you will find much of interest.
